Letters to the Editor
Port Mansfield has always been very dear to my heart. Growing up as a kid and even now, the Port is still an important part of my life and my family's life. For the past 19 years, Mike Wilson has been Port Director of the Willacy County Navigation District. Port Mansfield has grown and prospered during Mike's tenure as Port Director. Mike has also contributed immeasurable to our county through many community and church programs. The Port and Willacy will miss Mike as he has announced his retirement as of November of this year.
I can say, as well as many others (friends, fellow commissioners, employers), Mike Wilson will be missed at Port Mansfield. My friend, I salute you on a job well done and wish you much success to you and Claudia in your future.
The Willacy County Navigation District will have an election in November changing commissioners from a three-person board to a five-person board. I encourage concerned citizens and taxpayers who live in the district and who support and enjoy Port Mansfield and the navigation district in its present state to vote in this important election.
Sincerely, Mark Brown Sr.
