Lasara man sentenced to 10 years for 1,584 lbs. of marijuana

The Willacy County and District Attorney’s Office announced today that Bryon Nicholas Brown, 35, of La Sara, TX was found guilty on August 23, 2010 in the 197th District Court by Judge Migdalia Lopez and was sentenced to 10 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division for possession of a marihuana. On November 12, 2009, Texas Department of Public Safety received information that Brown was storing a large amount of marihuana at his residence. DPS Agents spoke with Brown and after he gave consent to search, Agents located 1,584 pounds of marihuana at his home.
The Willacy County and District Attorney’s Office will aggressively prosecute crimes relating to drug trafficking and would like to thank Texas Department of Public Safety Agent Sergio Ramirez, Jr. and Ranger Tony David for their participation on this case. The case was prosecuted by District Attorney Bernard W. Ammerman and First Assistant District Attorney Scott Greenbaum.
