De Los Santos sentenced to 7 years in prison
Apolonio De Los Santos The Willacy County and District Attorney’s Office announced today that Apolonio De Los Santos, 45, of Raymondville, TX was found guilty on August 24, 2010 in the 197th District Court and was sentenced to 7 years in prison at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division for possession of a controlled substance.
On January 25, 2010, Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop in Raymondville on De Los Santos for not wearing a seatbelt. The Trooper noticed that De Los Santos had a strong odor of marihuana emitting from him and the ve- hicle. The Trooper located a small amount of marihuana in the vehicle and 2 grams of cocaine.
The punishment range for possession of a controlled substance ranges from probation to confinement from 2 to 10 years and an optional fine not to exceed $10,000. The Willacy County and District Attorney’s Office will aggressively prosecute crimes relating to drug possession and would like to thank Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers Jesus Garza and Eugenio Garcia for their participation on this case. The case was prosecuted by DA Bernard W. Ammerman and First Assistant DA Scott Greenbaum.
