Hernandez gets 4 years in TDCJ for failing to register

The Willacy County and District Attorney’s Office announced today that Pablo Hernandez, 35, of Raymondville, TX was found guilty on August 24, 2010 in the 197th District Court and was sentenced to 4 years in prison in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division for failing to register as a sex offender.

On September 1, 2009, the Raymondville Police Department received information from the Texas Department of Public Safety that Hernandez had failed to register as a sex offenderHernandezwas required to register as a sex offender with the Raymondville Police Department annually for life because Hernandez had been previously convicted of at- tempted aggravated sexual assault of a 12 year old child that occurred on February 18, 1995. Hernandez last registered as a sex offender July 27, 2006. Mr. Hernandez failed to register as a sex offender in 2007 and 2008. The punishment range for failing to register a sex offender ranges from probation to confinement from 2 to 10 years and an optional fine not to exceed $10,000.

The Willacy County and District Attorney’s Office will aggressively prosecute sex offenders and would like to thank Raymondville Police Detectives David Robles and Danny Cavazos for their participation on this case. The case was prosecuted by DA Bernard W. Ammerman and First Assistant DA Scott Greenbaum.
