DALLAS (AP) SMU coach June Jones has received a twoyear contract extension that would keep him at the school through the 2014 season.

Athletic director Steve Orsini announced the deal Friday. Financial terms were not disclosed.

After going 1-11 in Jones' first season, SMU improved to 8-5 last season and went to the Hawaii Bowl to end a 25-year bowl drought. The Mustangs' sevenwin improvement marked the largest turnaround for any team last season.

Jones was 76-41 in nine seasons at Hawaii before taking the SMU job. His last game with Hawaii was in the Sugar Bowl after going 12-0 during the 2007 regular season.
