AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Texas senior right guard Tray Allen has not recovered from a left foot injury and will miss the first game against Rice.

The announcement came from Longhorns coach Mack Brown on Thursday. Fifthranked Texas plays at Rice on Sept. 4.

Allen hurt the foot early in training camp.

Texas is trying to rebuild an offensive line that lost three multiyear starters from the team that won the Big 12 last season.
