McALLEN - Robert “Bob” Smith, age 59, of McAllen, Texas passed away after an automobile accident on August 25, 2010.

Bob, an avid sportsman and nature lover, was often found hunting or fishing on weekends with his son, Ross. He was a renowned gunsmith in the Rio Grande Valley for many years and a partner in J & B Industries. Bob was a lifetime member of NRA and member of CCA. Bob was a beloved husband, father, and proud grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, customers, and hunting enthusiasts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Elizabeth Smith of Raymondville and a brother John Samuel Smith of Edinburg. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Brenda Sowers Smith; one son Ross Smith (Daniela); and two grandsons, Aleks and Jonathon. Bob is survived by two brothers Harold (Judith) Smith, Victor Smith (Bonita), and one sister Elizabeth Downing. Also surviving him are numerous nephews and nieces.

A memorial service was held at Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen, Texas on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 10:00 am. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. www.kreidlerfuneralhome.com
