Comments on elected officials proposed raises sought at Sept. 13 meeting

Taxpayers who want to comment on proposed raises planned by county officials for themselves and other elected officials will get a chance at a special county meeting on Monday, Sept. 13, at 9 a.m. The meeting will take place in the county commissioners' room at 576 W. Main Street in Raymondville.

Plans call for commissioners salaries and benefits to increase from $24,951 to $26,899. The county judge salary will go up from $55,970 to $56,945.

The sheriff's salary will increase from $39,561 to $41,119, while the county clerk, district clerk and county treasurer's salaries will jump from $34,100 to $35,464.

Under the new pay schedule justices of the peace in Pcts., 1, 3 & 4 will be paid $21,500 while justices in Pcts. 2 and 5 will be paid $24,700.

All four constables will soon be earning $14,900 if the pay schedule is approved.
