LYFORD - Asencion Martinez, 84, of Lyford, entered into rest Sunday, September 4, 2010 in Valley Baptist Medical Center.

He was born on December 8, 1925 in Combes, Tx, son of Eluterio and Josefa (Garza) Martinez.

He is survived by two sons, Asencion Martinez, Jr. of Lyford and Miguel (Maria Luisa) Martinez of Rio Hondo; five daughters, Petra M. Coronado, Dominga (Jose Luis) Cabrera, Antonia M. Cortinas, Laurie M. Lopez, all of Lyford and Lancie (Ernesto) Guzman of Raymondville; one brother, Lupe Martinez and one sister, Eustolia Mendoza; 23 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 5 greatgreat grandchildren.

A rosary was recited on Sunday, September 5 at 7 p.m. at Duddlesten Funeral Home, Raymondville, TX. Funeral mass was celebrated at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Lyford on Monday, September 6, 2010 at 10 a.m. with interment following in the Lyford Evergreen Cemetery, under the direction of Duddlesten Funeral Home, (956) 689-2151.
