MEXICO CITY (AP) - Mexico says it has extradited a man accused of sexually assaulting a girl and trying to kidnap the teenager and her mother to prevent them from testifying against him.

Suspect Ezequiel Moreno faces charges in Dallas. In 2008, Moreno allegedly masterminded a plot to abduct the 16-year-old girl and her mother from a Dallas mall.

Two people allegedly flashed fake immigration agent badges to abduct the pair. The mother escaped in Austin and the girl was released in San Antonio.

Moreno was mistakenly freed on bail in the U.S. and fled before a court-ordered bail increase was registered in court computer systems.

The federal Attorney General’s Office said Wednesday suspect Ezequiel Moreno has been turned over to U.S. authorities.
